My Work with Patch

This is a picture of me and my co-therapist, Patch. To begin the training process at an early age, Patch has been coming to my office since he was eight weeks old. He is professionally trained, certified through the Animal Samaritans AAT program, and has earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate through the American Kennel Club. www.akc.org Animal-Assisted-Therapy is a proven method for helping people improve their lives.  www.deltasociety.org

Patch is a Portuguese Water Dog, a highly intelligent, hypo-allergenic, non-shedding breed. Patch loves people of all ages and is friendly and well mannered. We have worked together in a variety of different environments, helping adults and children to lead happier and more satisfying lives. This has included volunteer service.

Patch and I can assist you, or any member of your family, by : 

• Increasing attention skills (i.e., paying attention, staying on task).
• Developing leisure/recreation skills.
• Increasing self-esteem.
• Reducing anxiety.
• Reducing loneliness.
• Assisting couples in therapy sessions to feel less tense and anxious so they can work more productively in therapy.
• Motivating children and teens to participate in therapy.
• Providing comfort and support during the grieving process.
